President Tim Klaben called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Guest Speakers:
Jeff Berens, Planning Engineer, WI Department of Transportation
Jerry Schmidt, WIDOT Project Manager
Terri Her, Acewood Alliance Pantry

Jeff Bernes provided information and drawings to RMNA members on the US Highway 51 Corridor Study Project from Voges Rd in McFarland to State Highway 19. The Project is looking at the Purpose and Need for a revision of Hwy 51 because of the traffic use as well as safety. The project has three Alternative plans looking at traffic safety and accidents from 2007-2011. The meeting this evening primarily focused on the project from Pflaum Road to Hwy 30. The project will also consider including Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities. The projected construction start date is estimated to begin in 2020. Contact information can be by phone at 608-245-2656 or jeff.berens@dot.wi.gov. The Study website is http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/projects/swregion/51/index.htm.

Terri Her, Director of the Acewood Alliance Pantry, spoke about the increasing success of the neighborhood Pantry that has served over 1700 pounds of food and hygiene items to over 30 households with 1-2 new neighbors every week. They are currently open the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings and are hoping to expand to include the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings. They are in need of more Volunteers in order to expand. Volunteers undergo a background check, letter of recommendation, and a half-hour on-site training session. A large refrigerator was donated by Rose Molz and delivered by Brothers Main.

The 2nd Neighborhood Brat Sale is going to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 11-5:00 p.m at the Sentry Grocery Store on Cottage Grove Rd. There will be two hour shifts for volunteers and the board is eager to see new faces to come for a fun time.

The Heritage Heights Neighborhood Picnic will be held Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 11-3:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Park Shelter with a $12 donation.

The Annual Election Meeting was held this evening and discussion was made to increase the Members-at-Large from 4 to 6 members. Wyl Schuth agreed to fill the Vice President spot; Matt Ida and Laura Kenny were nominated to fill the open board positions. The Board Members introduced themselves and told a little bit about themselves. Darold Lowe moved to elect the four current Board Members and six Members-at-Large. Matt Ida second it.

Tim Klaben stated that the number of Board and General Meetings will increase to five per year.

In Jordy Natzke’s absence, Maureen Engelberger reported that the balance in the Association checking account is $3253.64.

Pete Natzke suggested that a neighboring Association has a running and walking club and that maybe our Association may want to consider this in a way to meet more of our neighborhood members.

Wyl Schuth will attempt to get an Arborist and Hoticulturist to speak at an upcoming RMNA meeting.

Matt Ida spoke on the Grant Matching Programs to assist in improving our neighborhood parks so that they are more user friendly.

Darold Lowe moved to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. and Will Schuth seconded.

Respectfully submitted by Maureen Engelberger, Secretary.
